A number of children with autism will further enhance their development and social skills with the latest technology gadgets. This is thanks to Vassallo Group of Companies who have recently presented a number of tablets to the Autism Parents Association. The ceremony was held at the Group’s Training and Development Centre, at the Landmark Business Centre in Qormi.
The tablets were purchased through proceeds collected during this year’s dress down day, whereby employees forming part of several companies within the Group, donated an amount of working hours towards such a good cause.
“We decided that this year it was time to invest in a specific project rather than donating a monetary donation”, commented the Group’s Head of HR, Marketing and Communications,
Mr. Charlo Bonnici. “The tablets will be distributed to a number of children with autism which in return will help them grow and further enhance their computing knowledge”.
The Autism Parents Association (APA) is a non governmental association, designed to help and facilitate the process to families, with children with autism. The aim of the Association is to create awareness in our local Society, since autism is a condition which is not visible and the number of children being diagnosed with (ASD) Autism Spectrum Disorders is on the increase year on year.
Vassallo Group will be next year extending its services to another sector in the society, that of disability, through its new entity HILA. The aim of HILA is to offer a range of services to persons with disabilities including advocacy, independent supported living housing, learning and development activities and support services with a person-centred approach.
