Vassallo Group has recently inaugurated the Vassallo Group Training and Development Centre at the Landmark Business Centre in Qormi. The centre will also serve to host all the training courses of the CareMalta Academy which will take over all the care related courses, including City & Guilds accredited courses, previously organized directly by CareMalta. The launch was attended by the Group’s Chairman, C.E.O’s, Directors, Mr Thomas Mallon representative of City &Guilds, employees and students.

“We believe in the value of lifelong learning and in the potential of our employees to widen their knowledge, develop their talents, improve their skills, whichever trade they are involved in.”, commented the Group’s Chairman, Mr Nazzareno Vassallo.

CareMalta’s C.E.O, Natalie Briffa Farrugia said that this centre is another achieved milestone for CareMalta. She explained that as things evolved in the local education and employment sectors, the company felt the need to start offering courses which lead to a qualification that is recognized and accepted not only in Malta but also beyond our shores. “Over the past five years, some 400 students managed to get a diploma, a specialised diploma or even a diploma in dementia awareness and care issued by the City & Guilds,” she said.

Mr Charlo Bonnici, Group’s Head of HR, Communications and Marketing said that the fact that the company is focusing its attention solely on training, learning and education, is itself highly significant as it clearly shows how much Vassallo Group has learning and development at heart.

An exercise carried out recently within the group showed that Vassallo Group employs individuals from 40 different nations. Whilst multiculturalism and multilingualism present a challenge, the company believes that it also creates opportunities for initiatives such as training. This is why the company felt the need to introduce free Maltese language courses for the foreign workers with the aim to help them integrate more within the place of work.

During the same launch, the company presented certificates to those students who were successfully accredited within one of the courses offered.

With this new state of the art centre, the company is aiming to start a new era with the consolidation of in house training but also build strong relationships with external learners. In fact, the centre is also open for other learning initiatives mainly for the organization of talks, courses, seminars, launches, work shops and press events.
